The NAATI Credentialed Community Language (CCL) test is an assessment conducted by NAATI — the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia. It tests your ability to accurately interpret short spoken dialogues between English and your nominated community language. The test is approved by the Australian Department of Home Affairs as a source of skilled migration points and is designed for bilingual community members rather than professional interpreters.
Any individual who is proficient in both English and a recognised community language is eligible to sit for the NAATI CCL test. There are no formal qualification requirements — the test is specifically designed to be accessible to bilingual community members. You must be at least 18 years of age and your nominated community language must be one of the languages listed on NAATI's approved language list. The NAATI CCL test consists of two dialogue segments, each scored out of 45 points. Both conditions must be satisfied simultaneously — a high score in one dialogue cannot compensate for a failing score in the other.

When you pass the NAATI CCL test, NAATI issues you a digital credential confirming your result. You then add this credential to your SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) profile under the "Community Language" section of the points test. The Department of Home Affairs recognises this credential and automatically awards 5 additional points to your EOI score. These points are available for a five-year period from the date of your test result.
